ADORE

April 14, 2017 @ 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm

(A Dialogue on Race and Ethnicity)

This is a group discussion in which we explore our feelings on race and ethnicity issues in order to learn more about ourselves and to improve our inter-racial interactions.

Optional potluck at 6:30 p.m.; Discussion: 7:00-9:00 p.m.

ADORE AGENDA

Open discussion period:

Participants share experiences that prompted them to reflect on their race, ethnicity, or gender

Facilitator led discussions:

  1. How can we explain President Trump to our kids and grandkids? What areas of anti-racism should we focus on during this current surge of racism and hate groups? How do we keep from losing ground in our anti-racism struggle?

  1. Our UUA Board pledged $5,300,000 to Black Lives Unitarian Universalism (BLU). Should we pony up this money?  Does this BLUU approach to anti-racism make sense to you?  What would you suggest that BLUU do with this money?  Part of the reason for giving this money was the failure of the UUA to support the Black Empowerment Movement of the 1960s. Should we be paying now for someone else’s past actions or in-actions? (Reading provided)

  1. What is your take-away from the listing of the political history of America during the month of April?

(Reading provided)
